Join us Thursday, October 8, from 6–9 PM for the opening reception of Waiting to Be Seen, Eisele Gallery’s exhibition presented as part of the 2026 FotoFocus Biennial.Waiting to Be Seen explores the charged, chaotic, and deeply human theater of street life. Through street photography and photojournalism, the exhibition brings together images of drag performers, queer communities, clowns, bodybuilders, musicians, and everyday passersby captured in moments of unfiltered presence.
From the energy of a sidewalk encounter to the quiet intimacy of an ordinary moment, these photographs ask us to consider what happens when a photographer stops, looks, and chooses to make someone visible. The street becomes more than a backdrop. It becomes a stage for the unscripted rituals, personalities, communities, and chance encounters that make up public life.
Featuring photography by Maureen France, Melvin Grier, Tim Harrier, Maurice Mattei, William Messer, Robby Parsons, Ave Pildas, Rachel Rampleman, Brad Smith, Michael Wilson, and Matthew Zory.
