UPF Ireland Peace Road Walk & Forum 26 GPO Dublin (Sunday Sept 20th)
Walk starts at Unity House Peace Centre @ 11:30:am on Sunday Sept 20th - proceeding towards O'Connell Street from Parnell Street to the GPO, where we will read the Proclamation of the Irish Republic.
Returning via the Garden of Remembrance where we will stop off for short interfaith prayers and reflection on the Easter Rising and whether 110 years later, Ireland is fulfilling these Republican ideals and if as a neutral nation, it is a force for values based Peace in the world?
The Walk will be followed by lunch, refreshments, entertainment and presentations at Unity House at the Peace Road Forum in the afternoon from 2-5pm.
The Forum presentations and discussions will reflect on the values in today’s Ireland and what are those values, are they based on universal truths as espoused by faith traditions, peacemakers and altruistic patriots and humanitarians or something else which causes division, hatred and suffering?
What were the Republican ideals first proclaimed in Easter 1916 by our founders and what would they make of today's Ireland? How do these ideals comport with the UPF philosophy of Co-Prosperity, Co-dependence and Universal Values?
