Celebrate the new school year with a little unProfessional Development! A comedy show for teachers, performed by teachers!
Will this show help you master the time management needed for your school division’s newest labour-intensive reading assessment? No.
But…Will it make you a better teacher? Also no. Do you need to be a teacher to buy a ticket and laugh with us? ABSOLUTELY NOT!
But, unProfessional Development will help you laugh through all your favourite classroom grievances. Everything from unauthorized AI use by students, unhinged emails from parents, to the traumatic experiences that shaped us as students ourselves.
So grab your staff, or your work bestie, and join us on November 14th for the unProfessional Development comedy show. After all… your IPPs aren’t due for at least another couple of weeks, right?
About the comedians:
Brian Dawydiuk is a teacher and comedian sometimes and a husband and father always. Brian started doing stand up comedy because he foolishly decided to teach a junior high option class on a subject that he had only done one time up until that point. What began as a fun idea quickly developed into an obsession and Brian has been performing comedy to audiences throughout western Canada.
Brian is very active in the Albertan comedy scene and has performed with Canada’s best stand up comedians including Ahren Belisle (America's Got Talent, K*ll Tony), Danny Martinello (K*ll Tony), Sterling Scott (Canada's Got Talent) and Martin Phillips (K*ll Tony). His clever writing and laid back delivery leave audiences laughing and maybe even learning a few things at the same time. Brian touches on stories from his childhood, parenting, teaching and the stresses of being a hyper logical person in a highly illogical world.
Darren Morris is a teacher by day and comedian by night. He was a finalist in the CBC’s NextUp comedy competition, and has entertained audiences across Western Canada. From awkward everyday encounters to the chaos of the classroom, Darren enjoys unlocking core memories and finding the funny in shared experiences from the perspective of both teacher and student.
