Join immersive artist Faisal Anwar for a conversation about climate memory, ecological change and the possibilities of art to connect knowledge systems—and rethink our relationship with Earth’s living systems.
What can hybrid art reveal about climate change that data and tech alone cannot? How might we bring different knowledge systems into dialogue? And what does climate care look like when cultural memory, scientific research and lived experience meet?
Hybrid media artist Faisal Anwar introduces his international practice in the context of Berlin artist Christina Kubisch’s The Conference of Trees and its invitation to listen to nature in new ways.
Anwar’s practice sits at the intersection of art, science, technology and ecology. A pivotal residency in the Amazon rainforest prompted him to explore how ancestral knowledge systems, scientific research and emerging media might reshape our relationship with Earth’s living systems.
His latest project, Eternal Imprints, builds on scientific research initiated by German anthropologists in Pakistan. The work responds to the urgent threat facing ancient rock carvings at risk of being submerged by a dam project—and to the displacement of the communities who live around them.

About Faisal Anwar
Faisal Anwar is a hybrid artist and interactive producer who blends art, data, AI and scientific research into participatory, emotionally resonant experiences addressing sustainability and cultural identity.
Anwar is the founder of CultureLab.art and co-founder of ArtAddress. A graduate of the National College of Arts Lahore, Pakistan, and the Canadian Film Centre, he was Chief Curator of the Karachi Biennale 2022.
Faisal Anwar appears in the context of a multi-venue exploration of climate cultures by the Goethe-Institut Toronto, Blackwood Gallery at the University of Toronto Mississauga and Silo Nights curated by OCAD University.
