About this Event

World Car-Free Day is a global movement to encourage people to leave their cars parked and discover healthier, more sustainable, and affordable ways to get around. Despite the Ontario Ford government adopting legislation that curtails the implementation of new bike lanes, and worse, plans to remove some of Toronto's busiest bike lanes, it has never been a better time to bike in Toronto.

We are partnering with Chosen Chain and the Bicycle Mayor of Toronto. They will be guiding us along a 15 km route through the heart of the city to discover some amazing car-free spaces which are connected to bike lanes and transit. Thanks to our sponsor Leone Murray LLP, food and refreshments will be provided.

What: 3rd Annual World Car Free Day bike ride and picnic.

The group will be riding in central Toronto along a range of bike lanes and public spaces that are revitalizing the city:

  1. King’s College Circle
  2. Grange Park
  3. The Well
  4. The Bentway
  5. Love Park
  6. The New Biidaasige Park West - where we will have food and refreshments

When: Tuesday, Sep 22, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Schedule:

-5:45 pm gather at the side entrance to the ROM (100 Queen's Park)

-6:00 pm Welcome remarks and overview of the route and how to ride safely as a group

-7:00 pm Arrive at Biidaasige Park West for dinner and refreshments overlooking the Toronto skyline - please bring your own eating utensils to reduce the amount of waste being produced.

-7:45 pm depart for Union Station

- 8:00 pm arrive at Union, ride ends

View the 15.2 km route (note: we will finalize and share the route to all registered participants in advance).

Note: ALL participants MUST have working front and back lights, and a bell. We encourage all participants to wear a helmet; however, they are mandatory (and the law) for people 16 years and under, and for those riding e-bikes.

Good to know: Dress for the weather. Bring water, and please bring your own eating utensils to reduce the amount of waste being produced.

By your participation in this event, you agree to be respectful of others and will contribute to building a comfortable and inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome.
