Start to understand the signs of animals that run before us, nibble the shoots, knaw the hazelnuts... but who was it? the red squirrel, the vole or the field mouse? Who's poo... the red deer, the Herdwick or a fox.... speaking of foxes, who's foot print... the elusive fox on the fells, or a dog on a daily walk?
Join us to find out... and every day is different, every sign is new, a journey of discovery will start in the car park in Hartsop... with a white board and marker and a selection of books to inspire you.
Moving through ancient woods towards Angle Tarn Beck.
Our wander will now become a little bit for a scramble, as we head up the side of the beck, loose bracken and rocky sections lead us into un walked territory. If you can manage this, we will guide you where to walk. BUT... please only book the hike is you feel you can ascend quite steeply on uneven ground. We wont be moving quickly at all, but good mobility and agility is required.
(If we have enough folk get in touch who cannot manage this hike, we will put one on which is much much easier terrain with very little ascent).
As we head out of the Angle Tarn Beck gorge, the ground opens out to the land of red deer, and their signs. It all changes are we wander near to Angle Tarn itself.
Gorgeous views down into Martindale will delight us over our picnic lunch, before descending steeply back to Hartsop.
Please be aware that we could be walking around 10k - whilst our route is not long, the terrain is uneven and the all important tracking takes care and time. Its all about what we see!
