Consider this your invitation from Regina George herself to license the fiercely hilarious musical from book writer Tina Fey (30 Rock), lyricist Nell Benjamin (Legally Blonde) and composer Jeff Richmond (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt). More than a global sensation, Mean Girls is a unique licensing opportunity for customers to produce a show customized for their community.
Cady Heron may have grown up on an African savanna, but nothing prepared her for the wild and vicious ways of her strange new home: suburban Illinois. How will this naïve newbie rise to the top of the popularity pecking order? By taking on The Plastics, a trio of lionized frenemies led by the charming but ruthless Regina George. But when Cady and her friends devise a "Revenge Party" to end Regina’s reign, she learns the hard way that you can’t cross a queen bee without getting stung.
Adapted from Fey's hit 2004 film, Mean Girls was nominated for a staggering 12 Tony Awards. This show took Broadway by storm and has since joined the musical in-crowd. And now, so can you when you license Mean Girls!

Content Note and Parental Guidance:
Bullying: Much of the show’s premise is based on the social hierarchies in a high school setting. There are multiple instances of derogatory comments made about other students, often as a joke. Protagonists, antagonists, and ensemble are all involved in bullying.
Language: There are multiple uses of swear words. Words that connote sexuality are used derogatorily.
Sexuality: There are depictions of kissing and light sexuality. There are multiple references to high-schoolers having sex, or being in sexual situations.
Alcohol and Substances: There are references to high schoolers using drugs and drinking alcohol. There are depiction of students drinking alcohol at parties.
Body Image: The main plot revolves around one student’s developing body shame. There are scripted instances of bullying and shame around body size.
*The University of Guelph musical theatre team takes this very seriously, and depict those scripted moments as body dysmorphia for the character, instead of a high school where fat shaming is the norm. We strongly advocate that all bodies are good bodies, and there is no one right way to be or look.
