About this Event

Tranquili-Tea invites community to gather in a space of calm and connection. Here at the Q Center we will pause together, breathing and settling into presence. Stillness is not only found in silence or sitting. It can also be discovered through mindful action. As we share tea, the simple act of each pour and sip becomes a way to bring awareness into our everyday lives.

All are welcome, whether you have experience with tea or meditation or are brand new to both. You are encouraged to create your own sense of ease, bring a yoga mat, a blanket, soft clothing, a pillow or even a favorite plushie. Your comfort is part of the practice, and we are happy to support any needs for accessibility so that everyone can participate fully.

During the session we will pair gentle meditation with the careful preparation of Camellia sinensis. Using the gongfu method, tea will lead us into a natural rhythm of quiet attention and shared reflection. Together we will explore how preparing and drinking tea can become a living meditation, weaving mindfulness into ordinary life.

The gathering is guided by D’Guar (they/them), a devoted student of tea who offers this practice as a way to build awareness, connection, and community. Participation is offered on a pay-what-you-can basis with a suggested contribution of five to fifteen dollars. Your presence and care for the collective experience matter more than the amount you give.

To help maintain a welcoming and mindful atmosphere, please avoid wearing strong fragrances. This is a space of gentle respect where we honor our own needs and those of others. By arriving with openness and care for each other’s boundaries, we create a community where meditation, tea, and queer belonging can naturally flourish.

We acknowledge that this work takes place on the traditional lands of the Multnomah, Clackamas, Chinook, Kathlamet, Tualatin, Kalapuya, Molalla, and many other Indigenous ancestors and communities. We honor their enduring presence, care, and wisdom, and offer gratitude to the land and to the people who have tended it since time immemorial.
