1) Ancient Egypt
Holger Schoorl + Pete Johnston improvise drifting folksongs from real and imaginary cultures.
2) Alaniaris
Alaniaris was formed in 2007 by Michael Kaler, Mark Zurawinski, and Ken Aldcroft (RIP), in order to play music that mixed the modes and rhythms of Greek rebetiko with punky skronk and free jazz-descended openness to improvisation. Mark and Michael have occasionally performed as a bass/drums duo in the decade since Ken left the planet, but at this show the band will be a trio, with guitarist Brian Abbott joining in.
