About this Event

Location: G.47, Mile End Library, Queen Mary University of London, Mile End Rd, Bethnal Green, London, E1 4NS

Let’s celebrate Women’s History Month together at this event exploring Women’s Liberation in East London, past, present, and future. Queen Mary Archives and Tower Hamlets Archives will showcase materials from their collections, offering insight into the women they document and the lasting impact these women have had on the fight for justice.

Following presentations from the archive teams, you’ll be invited to reflect on what liberation means to you by creating your own piece of art in a Nakshi kantha (traditional Bengali embroidery) workshop led by OITIJ-JO Collective, an organisation platforming British/Bangla women.

This event is a great opportunity to meet others passionate about gender equity, while learning about the incredible work past and present that is taking place to advance women’s justice and gender equity in East London.

This event is open to people of all genders.

We welcome people to stay for the duration of the event or attend a portion of it.

If you have any questions please contact the Centre for Public Engagement team, [email protected]
