#CareersOnTheThames: 2026 Apprenticeships & Careers Open Day

Join us at the Thames Skills Academy's floating careers fair and discover apprenticeships and jobs on the Thames!

The Thames Skills Academy's annual #CareersOnTheThames event showcases the amazing breadth of apprenticeships and careers available along the 95 mile stretch of the river Thames.

This free event invites careers advisors, teachers, youth leaders, families and individuals to come aboard a boat and discover the wide range of job opportunities and apprenticeships available along the river. You will have the opportunity to talk to apprenticeship providers and employers, engineers, skippers, deck hands, baristas, cabin crew, specialists and many more, including apprentices past and present.

#CareersOnTheThames will take place aboard the fabulous Dixie Queen from 5-7.30pm on Wednesday, 25th March.

Guests will board and disembark at Butler’s Wharf, London SE1 2YE.

Guests can arrive and leave at any time as the boat will be moored throughout.

There will be a series of short talks about opportunities on the Thames and about the Boatmaster and Marine Engineering Apprenticeships.

There will then be time to walk around the exhibition stands to network informally with the employers, learn about the different job vacancies and apprenticeships and maybe even try your hand at new maritime skills.
