Η έρευνα This Is Gyros της REthink ANIMALS, σε συνεργασία με την UNLOCKED, έφερε στο φως εικόνες από τις συνθήκες στις οποίες ζουν τα γουρούνια στην Ελλάδα.
27 μονάδες εκτροφής γουρουνιών. Περισσότερες από 3 ώρες βίντεο. Πάνω από 100 φωτογραφίες.
Ζώα με σοβαρά προβλήματα υγείας. Μητέρες περιορισμένες σε κλωβούς. Γουρούνια που δεν έχουν ούτε τον απαραίτητο χώρο για να κινηθούν και να ξαπλώσουν.
Παράλληλα, καταγράφηκαν ζητήματα διαχείρισης νεκρών ζώων και αποβλήτων, που εγείρουν ερωτήματα για την προστασία του περιβάλλοντος και την δημόσια υγεία.
Η ανεξάρτητη επιστημονική αξιολόγηση μέρους του υλικού εντόπισε ευρήματα συμβατά με μη συμμόρφωση προς την ευρωπαϊκή νομοθεσία, τα οποία απαιτούν επίσημη διερεύνηση.
Τα στοιχεία έχουν πλέον φτάσει στις αρμόδιες αρχές.
Η REthink ANIMALS, σε συνεργασία με την οργάνωση Animal Advocacy & Food Transition (AAFT), έχει προχωρήσει σε αναφορές και καταγγελίες προς τις αρμόδιες υπηρεσίες.
Τώρα ζητάμε απαντήσεις και αλλαγές.
Την Κυριακή 8 Νοεμβρίου, από στις 16:00, στεκόμαστε στην Πλατεία Συντάγματος κρατώντας πλακάτ με πραγματικές εικόνες από την έρευνα This Is Gyros.
👉 Δεν χρειάζεται να φέρεις τίποτα. Όλα τα υλικά παρέχονται από τη διοργάνωση.
Θέλουμε να δουν όσο το δυνατόν περισσότεροι άνθρωποι όσα συμβαίνουν πίσω από τον «περίφημο» ελληνικό γύρο.
Και δεν σταματάμε εδώ. Ζητάμε τη δική σου υπογραφή.
Κατά τη διάρκεια της διαμαρτυρίας, εθελοντές και εθελόντριες θα συγκεντρώνουν υπογραφές σε σχετικό ψήφισμα για την ανοιχτή επιστολή μας προς τον Υπουργό Αγροτικής Ανάπτυξης και Τροφίμων και τον Υπουργό Περιβάλλοντος και Ενέργειας.
Ζητάμε από τα δύο Υπουργεία, στο πλαίσιο των αρμοδιοτήτων τους, να συνεργαστούν για την ουσιαστική διερεύνηση των ευρημάτων, τη δημοσιοποίηση των αποτελεσμάτων των ελέγχων, την προστασία των ζώων και του περιβάλλοντος και τη στήριξη μιας μετάβασης προς τη φυτική παραγωγή.
Καλούμε όσο το δυνατόν περισσότερους ανθρώπους να δουν τις εικόνες και να συμμετάσχουν στη διεκδίκηση απαντήσεων.
Ποιος, όμως, ελέγχει τους ελεγκτές;
Η Πολιτεία οφείλει να ελέγχει και να λογοδοτεί για τους ελέγχους της.
Δεν αρκεί να μάθουμε τι συνέβη. Χρειάζεται να μάθουμε τι θα αλλάξει.
Τα ζώα που θα κρατάμε στις εικόνες μπορεί να μη ζουν πια. Βρίσκονται άλλα στη θέση τους.
Έλα στο Σύνταγμα. Στάσου μαζί μας. Κράτησε ένα πλακάτ. Ενημερώσου για την έρευνα.

The This Is Gyros investigation by REthink ANIMALS, in collaboration with UNLOCKED, exposed the conditions in which pigs are kept on farms across Greece.
27 pig farms. More than 3 hours of video footage. Over 100 photographs.
Animals suffering from serious health problems. Mother pigs confined in cages. Pigs without enough space to move or even lie down properly.
The investigation also documented issues concerning the disposal of dead animals and waste management, raising concerns about environmental protection and public health.
An independent scientific assessment of part of the evidence identified findings consistent with potential non-compliance with EU legislation, requiring official investigation.
The evidence has now reached the relevant authorities.
REthink ANIMALS, in collaboration with Animal Advocacy & Food Transition (AAFT), has submitted reports and formal complaints to the competent authorities.
Now we demand answers and change.
On Sunday, November 8, from 16:00 to 18:00, we will gather at Syntagma Square, holding placards displaying real images from the This Is Gyros investigation.
👉 You don't need to bring anything. All materials will be provided by the organisers.
We want as many people as possible to see what happens behind Greece's famous gyros.
And we're not stopping there. We need your signature.
During the demonstration, volunteers will collect signatures for a petition supporting our open letter to the Minister of Rural Development and Food and the Minister of Environment and Energy.
We are calling on both Ministries, within their respective responsibilities, to work together to ensure a thorough investigation of the findings, public disclosure of inspection results, protection of animals and the environment, and support for a transition towards plant-based production.
We invite as many people as possible to witness the evidence and join us in demanding answers.
But who holds the inspectors accountable?
The authorities have a responsibility not only to carry out inspections, but also to be transparent and accountable for how those inspections are conducted.
It is not enough to find out what happened. We need to know what will change.
The animals whose images we will be holding may no longer be alive. Others have taken their place.
