Who is Sherlyn?
Sherlyn Chen is an engagement manager at McKinsey & Company and a contributor to the McKinsey Global Institute, where she works on long-term economic research and global growth dynamics.
She is a co-author of A Century of Plenty, a book that argues that the dramatic rise in living standards over the past century can be extended globally—potentially allowing the entire world to reach advanced-economy prosperity by 2100. The book frames this through the idea of a “progress machine,” driven by productivity, investment, innovation, and human capital, while stressing that such an outcome is not guaranteed but depends on political and societal choices.
