Discover the stories behind the town's much-loved Heritage Sculpture Trail as internationally acclaimed sculptor Emma Stothard introduces the real people who inspired her striking steel wire figures—from pioneering skipper Dora Walker and photographer Frank Meadow Sutcliffe to the fishermen, herring girls and workers who shaped Whitby's past.
Award-winning writer Tim Kelly then performs his enchanting new ballad, imagining the secret lives of the Wirefolk once the town has gone to sleep. Blending history, poetry and folklore, this unique event offers a fresh and magical perspective on Whitby's heritage.
The event includes audience Q&A, with the chance to see examples of Emma's intricate wire sculptures up close.
