From the early days when a Spontaneous Combustion Blues band was a joyous, but indulgious “blues jam” between musicians, performed for a mainly hard-core Blues loving audience, the concept have move on to include other genre's of music and appeal to a much wider audience.The Blues jams are still there of course, but the show now include categories like: Nr. 1 South African hits and Legendary Afrikaans songs produced by this country. But the rules are still the same: No rehearsals allowed, apart from chatting over the internet.
Each Frontman/woman must bring 5 songs to the gig, and then they each get 1 minute to explain to the rest of the band (and the audience) what he/she would like them to contribute to the song! They start the song, and the rest of the band joins and see how much “magic” they can create together. It is "seat of the pants" kind of fun that rubs off on the audience and makes them part of the creative process.
And we have an AMAZING line-up for this show: Blues-guitar master Wayne Pauli (guitar & vox), one of the finest exponents of acoustic blues guitar and vocals, Dale Collins, the man with the Voice: Johan Liebenberg (guitar & vox), the Rock legend from McCully Workshop, Rupert Mellor (piano,harp & vox), one of the most sought after bassists in the country, Rob Stemmet, the rock solid Pieter Heyns on (drums) and blues junkie and founder of the band, Jurg Human (MC, guitar & vox).
Another fabulous night of fun and laughter and great music awaits ...and if you've been to Spontaneous Combustion gig before, you'll know what we are talking about.
