About this Event

This is a Free In-Person Event at Banyen Books in Vancouver.

Join Glynnis Osher, Ayurvedic practitioner and founder of Academy Aromatica, for an evening exploring the healing wisdom of spices through the lens of her new book, The Spice Deck: An Anthology of Ayurvedic Spice Wisdom & Aromanutrition.

Discover how the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda views spices not simply as flavour, but as powerful allies for health, balance, and vitality. Glynnis will explore the healing properties and aromatic wisdom of spices, the emerging science of aromanutrition, and how taste and scent can support body, mind, and spirit. She’ll also share practical ways to bring greater nourishment and sensory awareness into your cooking and daily life.

As part of the evening, Glynnis will create a ceremonial Ayurvedic spice blend, using traditional grinding stones while sharing the stories, mythology, healing properties, and aromatic wisdom of the spices. Attendees will receive a small bag of the blend to take home.

Glynnis Osher is a certified Ayurvedic practitioner, educator, author, and aromatic alchemist who has been living and sharing the wisdom of Ayurveda and aromatherapy for more than 25 years. Founder of Academy Aromatica, a platform for immersive learning in Ayurveda and the aromatic arts, she is the author of The Spice Deck: An Anthology of Ayurvedic Spice Wisdom & Aromanutrition and co-author of Your Irresistible Life: 4 Seasons of Self-Care through Ayurveda and Yoga Practices That Work. She explores the meeting place of Ayurveda, aromatic botanicals, and the sensory wisdom of spices, offering immersive workshops through her Spice Salons and Aroma Ateliers. Glynnis is devoted to making the wisdom of Ayurveda accessible, meaningful, and alive in contemporary life through writing, art, spirit, and deeply experiential learning.
