The Souls of Bonchurch: A Graveyard Discovery
Explore two historic churchyards with walk leader Sue - one an ancient burial ground dating to the 11th century, the other a Victorian resting place.
Wander among weathered headstones and mossy monuments to uncover the lives, legends and mysteries behind them: poets, shipwreck victims, stonemasons and figures linked to ancient battles.
Each grave has a story, and Sue brings these peaceful spaces vividly to life with tales of love, loss, conflict and the enduring spirit of Bonchurch.
Illustrated with period photos, drawings and readings.
All welcome - just bring curiosity and good walking boots.

Start Location: 11th Century Ancient Church, Old St Boniface Church, Ventnor, Isle of Wight, PO38 1RQ
Finish Location: Victorian Parish Church on Bonchurch Shute, Ventnor, PO38 1RG
Pace of Walk: Gentle - This walk will follow a gentle pace.
Walk grade: Moderate - Varying landscape with more challenging slopes. Stiles and steps to be expected en route, suitable for anyone who is reasonably active.
Mobility level: Suitable for a person with sufficient mobility to climb a flight of steps but would benefit from fixtures and fittings to aid balance.

- Takes in coastal scenery
- Dress warmly, it can be chilly even on sunny days.
Please note, The churchyard surfaces are very uneven without railings etc. Surfaces can be slippery.
