About this Event
This event takes place on Friday the 27th of November and is the thirteenth of MathsWorld London's year long programme of monthly evening talks and events.
Drawing on a decade’s research at some of the world’s leading universities, Tom answers all the most bamboozling mathematical questions raised by Lord of the Rings, Marvel, Star Wars and more: from calculating Frodo Baggins’ life insurance premium for his journey to Mordor to destroy the One Ring in the fires of Mount Doom, to how many daily calories you’d need to feed a Charizard, to how rich Mario would be after he’d collected all those coins. The result is both a dizzying compendium of ‘did you know?’ facts and a guide to the mathematics of life, the universe and everything.
Visitors will have the opportunity to arrive from 18.15 to explore the ground floor of MathsWorld before entry to the upstairs talk area opens at 18:50. The talk will begin at approximately 19:00, lasting approximately until 20:00, with the centre closing its doors at 21:00.
