About this Event
From 1957-1969 the US and the USSR engaged in a breakneck engineering competition for bragging rights in Earth orbit and beyond.
This talk will surface a number of the most influential and fascinating characters -- from both politics and engineering -- of that unfolding drama, revealing several surprises.
Brandon R. Brown is a Professor of Physics and Astronomy at the University of San Francisco and the author of several books about science for the general public, including 2019's The Apollo Chronicles: Engineering America's First Moon Missions.
