The Folklore Society’s Katharine Briggs Lecture and Book Award 2026 will take place on Tuesday 10 November, 7pm, at The Warburg Institute, Woburn Square, London, WC1H 0AB. Doors open at 6:30pm.

Our lecturer this year is Dr Yinka Olusoga, Lecturer in Education, Course Director of the BA in Education, Culture and Childhood at the University of Sheffield and also Director of the British Academy funded project 'Childhoods and Play: The Iona and Peter Opie Archive'.

After the lecture, we will announce the winner of The Katharine Briggs Award 2026, awarded to the book judged to have made the most distinguished contribution to folklore studies over the last year, and to the President's Prizes for student work on folklore.

The event will be followed by a drinks reception.
