About this Event
Grab that jacket with the broken zip, the jeans with the split knee, or the shirt that's missing a button and bring it along to The Great Global Mend at the Shire of Mundaring Civic Centre.
The Great Global Mend is Australia's biggest simultaneous repair event: many hundreds of people across the country, all mending something at the very same moment, in an attempt to break our 2025 record (298 menders) for the most people repairing textiles simultaneously. The Shire of Mundaring is proud to be one of the venues taking part.
You don't need any sewing experience, all abilities are welcome at this event. It is beginner-friendly and will focus on simple repairs such as sewing on buttons, patching holes, mending hems and hand stitching. Confident and experienced menders and sewers welcome too, and encouraged to come along and share their ideas, skills and knowledge with others. Bring a basic hand-sewing kit if you have one, or simply bring yourself, we have everything covered. Remember to bring an item to mend at 11am!
The Great Global Mend is a national initiative presented by FabPatch and Care to Rewear, dedicated to keeping clothing and textiles out of landfill by making repair easy, social and normal again.
