About the Event
“I have the degree… but I don’t know how to start the session.” Many psychology students and early-career practitioners feel this gap between theory and real-world practice. In textbooks, cases are neatly categorized. In real life, children may stay silent, express themselves through play, or come from complex family systems that are not easy to understand.
The Clinical Mystery Lab is a 2-day interactive learning experience designed to bridge this gap.
Using a learning-by-doing approach, participants will work through real, anonymized case scenarios inspired by clinical practice at Insighte. Instead of passive listening, you will actively analyze cases, observe behavioural clues, and practice how to respond in real counselling situations.
By the end of the lab, you will move from feeling uncertain about “where to begin” to having a clear structure for understanding child and family counselling sessions.
What You Will Learn
During this 2-day lab, participants will develop practical skills in:
• Understanding non-verbal communication and silent cues in children
• Using play-based observation to identify emotional patterns
• Responding to challenging or high-pressure conversations with parents
• Structuring professional case notes used in real clinical settings
• Identifying sensory and emotional needs behind children’s behaviours
What this Workshop Contains
Day 1: Decoding the Silent Clues
Saturday, March 28 | 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Many children do not express their concerns through words. Instead, their emotions appear through play, body language, and subtle behavioural cues.
In this session, you will learn how to observe and interpret these signals.
Focus Areas
• Understanding the first therapy session with a silent or resistant child
• Play-based observation techniques used in child counselling
• Identifying emotional patterns and sensory needs
• Analyzing real-world case scenarios
Day 2: Solving the Parent Riddle
Sunday, March 29 | 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Counselling children often means working closely with parents and caregivers. Many practitioners struggle with communicating observations and concerns in a way that feels supportive rather than confrontational.
This session focuses on building confidence in these conversations.
Focus Areas
• Handling high-pressure parent meetings
• Communicating clinical observations clearly and ethically
• Writing professional case notes
• Structuring documentation used in therapy practice
What’s Inside Your Investigator’s Toolkit
Participants will receive a curated digital bundle designed to support their early clinical work.
First-Contact Templates
