ABOUT ME

I’m Aliyah, a Somatic Trauma Therapist, Somatic Coach, and certified Breathwork Practitioner, specialising in developmental (childhood), relational trauma, and attachment wounds that often shape our adult life patterns — from our behaviours and emotional responses to our relationships and how we connect with ourselves.

My work focuses on healing at the root. Rather than repeatedly revisiting the story, as in traditional talk therapy, I work with how experiences are held in the body and nervous system. By supporting the body to process and release unresolved survival responses, I help people create meaningful shifts in the present — realigning with themselves and moving toward lasting change.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:

Talking therapy helps us understand our patterns, but if we could rationalise them away, we would have done so by now. Understanding alone isn’t always enough. We need to work with the body, nervous system & mind.

The Body Keeps the Score. Many patterns are protective responses and adaptive behaviours learned by the nervous system to create emotional safety. Through repeated experiences, these responses become wired with the mind, shaping our learned beliefs, patterns and ways of being.

We explore the unmet needs, suppressed emotions, unseen or unheard parts of self, and adaptive behaviours beneath our patterns and triggers.

By working at the level of attachment and emotional safety in the body, the nervous system can find new safety and update, opening up new choices and greater authenticity.

Have you ever felt pulled out of yourself when you’re triggered?

Maybe it shows up as overwhelm, anxiety, panic — or the urge to run, shut down, or numb out.

Perhaps you can be blindsided by sudden anger or lashing out?

Or you feel deeply rejected by someone’s tone, look, or delayed reply?

You are not alone.

You may have already done talking therapy and understand your patterns.

But why do they keep repeating?

The things that trigger us in adult life are often younger, wounded parts being activated.

As Gabor Maté says:
“When trauma gets triggered, you don’t act your age — you act the age the wound was created.”

Talking therapy can bring insight and awareness, but many of the survival responses that shaped these patterns are still held in the body and nervous system — as we often hear, “the body keeps the score.”

Trauma isn’t always catastrophic — often it’s subtle, chronic, and relational. It’s “stuck” survival energy: fight, flight, or freeze responses that get chronically aroused without completing fully and returning to safety and regulation. This can happen when our emotional needs weren’t met consistently, predictably, or adequately, such as feeling:

  • seen, heard, understood, validated
  • emotionally supported
  • soothed or comforted when distressed or alone
  • free to express our feelings
  • allowed to simply BE without conditions, shame, fear or too much responsibility

What is this workshop about?

👉 A trauma-informed workshop using somatic therapy, nervous system regulation, inner-child healing & my own breathwork methodology to gently release stuck survival energy & begin shifting long-held emotional & mental patterns.

👉 You’ll compassionately explore where core emotional needs — to feel safe, seen, heard, supported, soothed, allowed to be, free to express may not always have been been met consistently or adequately & how this shaped patterns in adulthood.

👉 You’ll start restoring safety & find clarity around:

- unhealthy relationship patterns & attachment styles

- emotional triggers & impulsive reactions

- boundaries & expressing needs

- low self-worth & lack of purpose

- adaptive behaviours like over-working, people-pleasing, over-giving, avoidance & perfectionism.

👉With curiosity, as you reconnect to your body, you will start to feel what was missing/lacking and have a more compassionate understanding of why:

  • you may have been attracting toxic relationships or get triggered often and find yourself in relational conflict
  • you may struggle to say No or set clear boundaries,
  • you may have avoidant tendencies, or withdraw/retreat
  • why you may have sudden rages/outbursts/lash out, or often feel the need to escape/run away or hide.
  • you may struggle to express how you feel or what you need, or don't even know what you need
  • you may self-bash /judge yourself a lot (and perhaps judge others too)
  • you may over work and burnout often, or never feel satisfied with your own work or achievements
  • you may have low self-worth or low confidence, or a grandiose sense of self and self-importance
  • feel exhausted a lot, people please, hyper-focus on others' needs, find a sense of worth in helping others or pleasing others, over give/rescue
  • lack a sense of purpose and find yourself feeling depressed or highly anxious.

👉 When our early life experiences are left unexamined they can continue to keep us stuck in unhealthy relationships or dynamics, unconscious patterns of behaviours & reactions and controlled by negative/limiting stories in our mind.

👉 Many of us develop adaptive behaviours such as people-pleasing, avoidance, over helping, perfectionism or “super-person” tendencies. These leant 'survival' patterns can pull us away from our true self, leading to exhaustion, resentment, unfullfilment, constant need for external validation, toxic relationships, relational conflicts, unmanageable anxiety & depression.

👉 By reconnecting with the body, we re-attune to our core needs, get to know ourselves more deeply, and support our authentic self to grow and flourish. This work helps gently disrupt these cycles, build emotional resilience, support compassionate awareness to triggers, create space for healthier relationships, new choices and authentic expression to thrive.

What is Somatic Therapy about?

Talking therapy can help us understand and bring awareness to our patterns. Somatic therapy goes a step deeper by working with the roots of these patterns held within the body and nervous system.

The body holds the memory of our experiences in a way that is often more accurate than the mind, whose recollection can become fragmented or distorted over time. Rather than repeatedly retelling the story or trying to recall past events, somatic therapy works with the body’s felt experience — particularly incomplete fight, flight, or freeze responses that remain stored in the body and nervous system.

These unresolved survival responses continue to “fire and wire” with the mind, shaping many of our behaviours, emotional reactions, and relationship patterns.

Somatic therapy allows us to safely access and fully experience these responses so they can be processed, integrated, and returned to a state of safety and regulation.

As this happens, the nervous system can begin to reorganise and experience a new sense of safety. This creates space for new choices, resilience, and authenticity, allowing the mind and body to realign.

When our emotional needs — to be seen, heard, soothed, or simply allowed to be — weren’t met consistently or adequately, the body may have felt unsafe. Chronic states of fear, suppressed anger, overwhelm, or stress activate the nervous system (fight, flight, freeze), and become stored in the body as sensations, impulses, suppressed emotions, even pain — before the conscious mind can make sense of them. This is why we say the body keeps the score: these stored experiences shape our feelings, thoughts, behaviours, reactions and relationships.

Somatic trauma work is gentle and not forced - we do not push releases but I will help you trust your body and follow what the energy needs to do . It may be gentle, soothing releases without much movement at all but gentle touch or hugging, crying or laughing that it needs. Or a big release may be needed which could be screaming, shaking, bigger movements and banging the floor. We trust and follow what your inner child (i.e the energy and nervous system) needs.

How will this workshop support you?

Together we will start gently disrupting these patterns, build emotional resilience, support compassionate awareness to triggers & create space for healthier relationships, new choices and authentic expression. A somatic trauma exploration workshop using breathwork, deep body awareness, nervous system regulation and inner child exploration to gently release ‘stuck’ survival energy and start shifting emotional & mental patterns we are 'stuck' in - often trauma patterns we learnt to 'believe' and adapt into that shape our adult life & relationships.

Join me for a guided journey combining somatic practices and breathwork to connect with your inner child in a safe and supportive space. Through gentle somatic exercises, you’ll learn to notice what you’re feeling in your body, explore how these sensations connect to past experiences, and discover the child parts within you that long to be seen, heard, and cared for.

❤️ Optional Sauna, Cold Plunge & Red Light Therapy — Special Workshop Add-on

Extend your workshop experience with a rejuvenating sauna and cold-plunge session, offering dedicated space for integration and reflection. Moving between soothing heat and invigorating cold to create a deeply refreshing contrast-therapy ritual,

You’re welcome to choose what feels right for you — you can simply enjoy the sauna and red light therapy if you prefer, or, if you’re feeling curious, we recommend experiencing the cold plunge too. There are different plunge temperatures available, so you can choose a level of cold that feels manageable.

Alongside the experience, we’ll offer— noticing what arises as you move through challenge, discomfort and release. The practice can be an opportunity to build on the resilience you, reconnect with your inner strength and explore your capacity for choice, courage and freedom.

Together, the experience offers an opportunity to build on the resilience, courage, freedom and greater capacity for choice cultivated during the workshop — taking the work from reflection into embodied experience and leaving you feeling refreshed, renewed and empowered.

The sauna and sweating can also support the body’s natural detoxification processes and provide a sense of physical release and renewal.

How does Breathwork help with this?

Breathwork will help you access these deeper layers with regulation and safety, allowing your nervous system to reset and find balance. Together, we’ll practice meeting these inner parts with compassion, tending to their needs, and using the breath as both a bridge to healing and a tool for support.Take time out for ‘YOU’ to develop & heal the relationship with your inner child (child parts/feeling within you) to facilitate deeper healing & growth, find deeper connection and regain a sense of control and clarity over any emotional struggles, relationship/family challenges and/or life transitions.

I’ve developed a unique Breathwork methodology blended with intentional somatic trauma therapy practices and writing exercises designed to safely guide you into a deep inner journey. As you reconnect to the wisdom of your body, you’ll encounter younger parts of yourself (and even younger adult parts) — whose needs to be seen, heard, understood, soothed, or simply allowed to BE were inconsistently met, inadequately supported, or in some cases, never met at all, in both childhood and even in relationships. These are the parts whose feelings were not fully held, comforted, or allowed to be expressed, and through this work, they are gently invited to be felt and expressed fully to bring us back into wholeness.

When those experiences were overwhelming, frightening, unsupported, not allowed to express feelings or simply not allowed to just be yourself without conditions, expectations or being criticised, the mind often disconnected from the body in order to cope. This survival response left these parts fragmented in the body, giving rise to protective adaptations such as people-pleasing, perfectionism, overworking, over-helping, avoiding, or shutting down. While these strategies once helped us survive and were protective, they no long work for us as adults, Over time they become ingrained patterns that shape how we feel, relate, and choose in adult life — often keeping us stuck and disconnected from our authentic selves.

In this space, you’ll be gently supported to meet these adaptive parts — the protectors, pleasers, achievers, avoiders, or shutdown parts — with compassion and curiosity. Through breath, somatic awareness, and integration, you’ll begin to restore wholeness, release what no longer serves you, and reclaim the freedom to live and relate from your true self.

👉 This work is not about blaming caregivers or parents, there's no healing and growth in this. It’s about approaching ourselves with curiosity and compassion — gently exploring how we’ve learned and adapted into certain patterns of behaviour, reactions, and cycles of negative thinking or feeling that may once have been 'protective' but not longer serve us.

What will happen during the workshop:

  • We will start with grounding and anchoring exercises to ensure you're feeling safe & regulated before going deeper.
  • There will be somatic therapy practices to allow gentle reconnection to the body's felt sense, internal bodily sensations and impulses that trigger our trauma responses and patterns we can get stuck in. This will also allow the start of your deeper healing journey, where you can start to access incomplete survival responses and suppressed emotions from younger years e.g. anger at a parent/situation, grief, sadness, fear that were not held, supported or helped back into safety.
  • We will do some therapeutic inner child & self-development work around fears, limiting beliefs and suppressed emotions like anxiety & anger holding you back from your true, authentic self.
  • There will be a compassionate enquiry (where you will write/journal ) to help you bring conscious awareness and compassion to the subconscious thoughts, limiting beliefs and suppressed emotion/trauma in the body that may be driving the patterns. And we will combine this with the deeper somatic therapy.
  • We will end on a full, deep session of Breathwork which is a unique methodology designed to be all-accessible with modifications to suit your needs and meet your nervous system where it's at. It is a combination of more active breathwork, breath holds and release with slower, regulating breathwork. It has been carefully curated to offer a full reset and regulation of your nervous system. As I guide you through your journey I will be talking to your subconscious mind as you drift into theta brain wave. It offers a safe space for any emotional release and I will offer somatic support throughout. You will have opportunities to release (big or gentle) and discharge stuck survival energy that gets trapped in our body for decades. The nervous system will learn safety to reorganise and update as stuck survival energy starts to redistribute into your life energy for you do, be and live freely and truthfully.
  • You will learn and takeaway tools and daily practices support your continued healing and regulation practice.
