About this Event
Do you ever feel like you’ve lost touch with your creative side?
You don’t have to think of yourself as an artist to feel that way. Perhaps you miss being creative, have ideas that never seem to go anywhere or simply wonder what might happen if you gave that part of yourself more space.
You may have ideas you keep putting off or something you’ve always wanted to try. Or perhaps you’re already painting, writing, making music or designing, but lately it has felt harder to make time for it or enjoy it.
Maybe The Artist’s Way has been sitting on your bookshelf for years. You started it once, or several times, but somewhere along the way life took over and you lost momentum.
I know that experience because it was mine too.
I first bought The Artist’s Way about 15 years ago, but despite several attempts, I never made it all the way through. Last year, I finally completed it. Going through the full process helped me return to painting, experiment more freely and recognise some of the ways I had been holding back creatively.
The book gives us the process. The circle helps us stay with it.
Over 12 weeks, a small group of six people will move through Julia Cameron’s The Artist’s Way, one chapter at a time.
At the heart of the process are practices such as Morning Pages, Artist Dates and weekly exercises. These are designed to help you notice which interests or ideas keep resurfacing, what you have been putting off and what may be ready for more space in your life.
Meeting each week gives us a rhythm, keeps the process present and provides a place to talk about what we are discovering along the way.
This is more than a weekly discussion of the book.
I’ll draw on more than 15 years of coaching and facilitation experience to help us explore the patterns, assumptions and beliefs that may surface. Sometimes, a thoughtful question or a different perspective can help us see more clearly what may have been getting in the way.
Because the circle is intentionally limited to six people, there will be time for everyone to contribute and be heard. There is no expectation that you produce anything or share your creative work.
