About this Event
This 6 hour workshop is designed to educate, engage, and inspire professionals, parents, and others who wish to support siblings in their local communities. During this interactive presentation, we discuss why it's important to support siblings and how doing so benefits the entire family. We cover the unique mental health concerns and -equally important- opportunities that siblings often experience, and share simple, effective strategies that can be used in our everyday work and life to support siblings in our families, organizations, and communities. The highlight of our workshop is a 90 minute panel of local adult siblings who reflect on growing up with a brother/sister with support needs. Their stories powerfully convey the commonalities, nuances, challenges, and rewards of the sibling experience.
