STRÆBERJUL: TANGO MATRIX27.-29. december 2026 (Scroll for English)
Mandag d. 28. december (kl. 16-19)
Dag 2: Ochos – Sproget for improvisation
Grundsøjlerne i følgerens trin: Vi undersøger, hvordan følgerens tre drejningstrin (baglæns, sidelæns, forlæns) udgør logikken i næsten alle bevægelser – selv den helt enkle base.

English version
STRÆBERJUL: TANGO MATRIX
December 27th–29th, 2026 (Scroll for Danish)
Welcome to Stræberjul! Here, you can step out of the Christmas rush and into three days of immersion, great atmosphere, and lots of dancing. Stræberjul is usually the nerds' playground, and this Christmas, we are going all in.
This year, we are working under the theme Tango Matrix. Instead of focusing on finished choreographies, we direct our attention toward the fundamental structure of tango. We look at the core building blocks and examine how movements and figures come to life based on the underlying principles.
Program and Times
Sunday, December 27th (10:00 - 13:00)
Day 1: The Walk (Caminata) and Its Possibilities
Tango is fundamentally about walking together, and the walk holds many combinations and possibilities for variation.
The Walk and Its Systems: The understanding of, and the switch between, the parallel and the crossed systems, and examples of salidas (exits).
An overview of the different tracks the leader can take within the follower's steps, creating a basis for simple improvisation and variation in the dance – in both linear and circular variations.
Monday, December 28th (16:00 - 19:00)
Day 2: Ochos – The Language of Improvisation
An overview of the elements and the dialogue that arise between the couple during ochos.
Ochos and Pivoting: We zoom in on the follower's ocho, pivoting, and change of direction. This is so that we understand ochos as a structure rather than as figures.
Improvisation: Discovering the dance as an improvisation around the follower's ocho/axis.
Tuesday, December 29th (16:00 - 19:00)
Day 3: Espejos (Mirrors) & Giros (Turns) – The geometric mirror logic that occurs during turns and americanas - Positions where we mirror each other.
The Pillars of the Follower’s Steps: We examine how the follower's three turning steps (backward, side, forward) make up the logic in almost every movement – even the very simple base.
The Mirror within the Movement: Discovering the geometric connection where tango becomes a shared language, and not just a question of leading and following.
