Do you really need a strategic plan? It depends.
Before launching a planning process, nonprofit leaders need clarity about what they hope the process will accomplish, what their organization is ready to undertake, and what kind of plan will be most useful. A comprehensive strategic plan may be the right choice, but some organizations may benefit more from annual priority setting, implementation planning, or scenario and contingency planning.
This virtual webinar will help participants assess their organization’s context, motivation, readiness, and capacity for planning. Participants will explore different types of plans, reflect on lessons from prior planning efforts, and identify the first questions to discuss with board and staff leaders. They will leave better prepared to select a planning approach that is thoughtful, relevant, and realistic.
Presenter Bio: Melissa Harris, Director of Service Development, Fio Partners
Melissa helps organizations build the clarity needed to create lasting community impact. Through strategic facilitation, training, and organizational development, she designs experiences that help people learn together, work across boundaries, and turn shared purpose into collective action.
At Fio Partners, Melissa develops the firm's frameworks, products, and training programs, and leads client engagements focused on shared learning and strategy development. She brings her experience developing nonprofit brands, engagement programs, and communications to her work at Fio Partners. She has a B.A. in English and Philosophy from Providence College and an M.S. in Nonprofit Management and Philanthropy from Bay Path University.
