Join SDPB for the premiere of Standing Proud: Women in Uniform Part 2 and a screening of Standing Proud: Women in Uniform Part 1, made possible by a grant from the Mary Chilton DAR Foundation.Standing Proud showcases the stories of South Dakota veterans that highlight the growth, struggles, victories, and insights about service and patriotism. In the individual stories, we learn about the universal history of women who have served our country. From each beginning, we follow their stories through basic training, into their first assignment, and how world events like the conflict in Vietnam, the fall of the Berlin Wall, and September 11th not only changed their duties but also how they see concepts like “freedom” and “service” - and ultimately, how those lessons changed their lives back in South Dakota, and how they made an impact on their family, friends, children, and communities.
