About this Event
We are delighted that co-founder of Polish Smog Alert Anna Dworakowska will be with us to say a few words about the making of 'The Last Breath' and share more of the inspiring story of how they became aware they had to do something to help stop the terrible air pollution in their home city of Krakow.
Earthshot Prize finalist Polish Smog Alert is a social movement that brings together people fighting to improve air quality in Poland – the country with the most polluted air in the EU.
For this special event, we are also delighted that the Chair of An Taisce Terri Morrissey and President of An Taisce, Phil Kearney will introduce and close the evening. An Taisce is currently a proud partner participating in an EU-wide air quality project simultaneously sampling NO2 levels with other organisations in cities that include Athens, Paris, Berlin, Barcelona, Milan, Bucharest, Sofia and Plovdiv. This project is led by Polish Smog Alert. The results of the project will be shared with the EU commission early 2027.
This film follows communities, scientists and grassroots activists in locations including in Poland, England, Pakistan, Chile and the US, showing how polluted air affects everyday life.
Air pollution isn't inevitable. Through examples shown in Kraków, the film explores how citizen-led campaigns, public awareness, and political action works and leads to significant improvements in air quality.
The work of Polish Smog Alert is highlighted as an example of how grassroots activism helped drive cleaner heating policies and reduce smog-related pollution in Poland.
