The Hip-Hop Sobriety Concert—Special Edition” is a citywide, day-long, two-part cultural activation taking place on NOVEMBER 27th , 2026,in East Austin’s historic Rosewood community. The event merges civic participation, artistic excellence, community healing, and cultural preservation into a unified,
public-facing creative experience grounded in the people, places, and histories that shaped Austin’s Black cultural legacy.
Part I: The Hip-Hop Sobriety Concert—Special Edition transitions participants into a high-art, sober-centered performance headlined by Austin’s own Cluren Williams
and national sobriety artist Stann Smith, alongside emerging artists whose families helped build Austin’s music infrastructure. Testimony segments, collaborative
pieces, and live arrangements blending jazz, folk, R&B + hip-hop root the program in Black musical lineage and recovery-centered storytelling. The project elevates
underrepresented histories by featuring artists impacted by displacement, addiction, incarceration, homelessness, and systemic inequities, offering them a
professional platform that honors/validates their creative craft & lived experience. For participants, this event offers a rare & authentic encounter with Austin’s creative
soul beyond the commercial entertainment district. Key components include live performance (2 stages), recovery-centered artistic leadership, cultural preservation,
multigenerational engagement, a Black-owned vendor marketplace, accessibility and safety teams, and volunteer mobilization. Timeline (2026): Jan–March: Artist
recruitment & prod planning; April–May: Partnerships & marketing; June: Walk + Concert + Eval (digital pre/post surveys, QR-coded vendor check-ins, on-site
interviews); Post-Event: Reporting & digital distribution. Anticipated Goals: 1,000+ attendees; 10+ artists paid fair wages; increased visibility for sober artists; vendor
sales & micro-economy metrics, media reach: 20K–50K impressions, expanded access to culturally relevant resources; high-quality documentation for future
bookings. Anchored by KKMG’s 15-year legacy and supported by DAWA, HAAM, MUSIC CARES, and Black-owned food vendors such as TaterQue, the project
positions Austin as a leader in sobriety-centered hip-hop and culturally grounded performance art. Modeled loosely after a community-scale SXSW, the project
strengthens Austin’s creative economy through paid artist work!!!
