About this Event

Cities across the Americas are increasingly interested in adopting smart city solutions to m community needs and challenges. However, there are many obstacles that city leaders must address to ensure investments in new digital tools benefits their community. As cities address these obstacles, there is much that can be learned from others who have experienced or are currently experiencing similar challenges.

The Smart City Foundation Workshop will bring together smart city practitioners from across the Americas for a one day workshop to engage with experts and network with peers as they learn about the foundation elements of implementing smart city solutions. The Workshop will include:

  • Sessions on important elements of smart cities, including community engagement, industry partnerships, financing, governance, and more.
  • Speakers from cities who are leading cutting-edge smart city programs and non-profits supporting smart city implementation.
  • Discussion and activities with peers from across the Americas to understand how they are approaching common challenges and utilizing technology.
  • U.S. Government representatives, including representatives from the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), the International Trade Administration (ITA), and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
  • Contact information and informational resources for continuing the discussion with United States Government, city, and industry partners after the conclusion of the workshop and the Cities Summit of the Americas.
