About this Event
She Lives in Me: A Reflective Embroidery Session
For Women’s History Month, we’re making history personal.
She Lives in Me is a calm, beginner-friendly reflective art session led by founder, Aurnela Madade. You’ll create a small embroidered piece inspired by an influential woman in your life — past or present, family or not. This is about meaning and storytelling, not perfection.
Embroidery has long been part of women’s history: a way to record, express, and carry memory when voices weren’t always heard. In this session we’ll tap into that lineage in a simple, supportive way.
What we’ll do (gentle, step-by-step)
- A short reflective prompt to choose who you’re stitching for, and what you want to honour
- Simple design planning (words, symbols, easy shapes — no drawing skills needed)
- Learn/use a few basic stitches (outline + simple fills/textures)
- Colour/texture choices to make it feel personal
- Finishing ideas so it becomes a keepsake (e.g. mini hoop, patch, or card-ready textile)
Examples you might stitch
A phrase she used to say, a symbol from memory (flower/star/book/teacup), or colours that “feel like her”.
