(EN)
shapesister is a new Bucharest four-piece sitting somewhere between art rock and post-punk, with one foot in the nervous, angular world of bands like De Staat and IDLES, and the other in the softer, dreamy world of The National.
Their songs can be tense, repetitive and abrasive, but can seemlessly turn warm, melodic or strangely romantic. Rather than reaching for grand existential statements, the quartet keeps things close to home: bodies, appetite, shame, intimacy, childish
cravings, bad habits and the small things that somehow end up taking over your day.
The band is formed by Mihai Costăchescu on bass and synths, Luca Călăraș on guitar, Nikita Dembinski on vocals and synths, and Dru Popa on drums.
shapesister play their first ever show on November 1st at Expirat, in Bucharest, launching their eponymous EP and many other unreleased songs.
