About this Event
An introductory hand-sewing and fiber arts class teaching simple stitches, easy embroidery, and beginner plush-making. Repetitive stitching is used intentionally as a calming, meditative practice, with sessions opening with a few minutes of quiet focused stitching before moving into the day's project. Projects use larger stitches, blunt needles, and pre-cut felt shapes to keep the skill level age-appropriate, while still building fine motor skills, patience, and a sense of accomplishment from finishing a tangible object.
This class satisfies California SEL and Arts standards for elementary grades 1-5, making it a strong fit for homeschool and charter school enrichment credit.
Sample Projects:
- Felt bookmarks
- Felt Toy puppets
- Drawstring pouch
- Roll-up pencil/marker case
- Felt wall hanging decoration (rainbow, strawberry, sun)
