About this Event

Discover the fun, freedom and rhythm of traditional Irish dance!

Forget everything you know about Irish dance — this is not River Dance!

Sean Nós means “old style” in Irish Gaelic. It’s an ancient, percussive form of Irish dance that is relaxed, playful and full of personality. Danced close to the ground, it combines rhythmic footwork, improvisation and a natural connection with traditional Irish music.

There are no complicated formations or strict choreography. Instead, you’ll learn to play with rhythms, express yourself through movement and discover the joy of dancing in the moment.

No previous dance experience needed — just bring your curiosity and a willingness to have fun!

This workshop is suitable for all abilities, including complete beginners, and welcomes both adults and young people.

What to Expect

In this workshop, you will:

  • Learn the basic steps of Sean-nós dance and explore its distinctive rhythms.
  • Move to live music and experience the energy of traditional Irish sounds.
  • Connect with the music by discovering how your feet can become part of the rhythm.
  • Express yourself through dance in a relaxed, welcoming and supportive atmosphere.

Your host:

Lena Ivanova is an Irish dance artist and educator with 20 years of experience. Since 2006, her passion for Irish dance has led her to establish schools in Russia and Cyprus, where her students became multiple international champions. Having trained in various Irish dance styles, Lena now focuses on Sean Nós, exploring the connection between rhythm, music and movement.

Now proud to call Ireland home, she continues to discover its culture and language — even appearing in an Irish film about dance, where she danced and spoke Irish!

No experience. No pressure. Just rhythm, music and the joy of Irish dance!🎟 Thanks to the EU funding, we are able to make this event free and cover rent-related costs.

Come as you are, bring your energy, and discover a side of Irish dance you may never have seen before.

Fáilte romhat! — You're very welcome!
