Join us for a FREE choral concert featuring "Tyler's Suite," a multi-movement choral work honoring the life of Tyler Clementi. Clementi's story continues to inspire conversations about empathy, dignity, inclusion, and belonging. As Tyler's alma mater, Rutgers University shares a poignant connection to his legacy, making this performance especially meaningful. The event opens with a panel discussion featuring Dr. Judy Jarvis, LGBTQ+ scholar, associate vice provost at the University of Pennsylvania, and author of the forthcoming book "Untold Stories: Tyler Clementi’s Death and Crisis Leadership in Higher Education" (Rutgers University Press, 2027), and Jane Clementi, co-founder and CEO of the Tyler Clementi Foundation. The panel, sponsored by Rutgers’ Tyler Clementi Center, offers an opportunity for dialogue, reflection, and hope. Through music, audiences are invited to consider the enduring importance of kindness, acceptance, and the power of community to foster understanding and healing.
"Tyler's Suite" brings together the voices of several distinguished composers, including John Corigliano, Stephen Schwartz ("Godspell," "Wicked"), Ann Hampton Callaway, Jake Heggie, and others, creating a deeply moving musical tribute that speaks to resilience, compassion, and our shared humanity.
This performance by the Rutgers University Glee Club will feature various solos, including a solo by vocalist Natalie Weiss (YouTube's "Breaking Down the Riffs"), with Rutgers alum Johnny Weizenecker on violin.
Doors open at 7 p.m.
