Remembering the Ancestors: A Sonic Ceremony
Sunday, November 1
2–4 pm
WonderLit Studio
243 Wallace Avenue, Toronto
$60 CAD
On November 1st, we gather at a potent threshold, a time recognized in many cultures as one of honouring the ancestors. Across the world, this season invites remembrance, reflection, and reconnection with those who came before us.
In this two-hour Sonic Ceremony, we will open a sacred space to remember and honour those who came before us, to listen for their wisdom, and to open to connection, healing and remembrance through ceremony, sound and shared intention.
Through sound and ceremony, we will open to connection with our healthy, supportive and well ancestors, receiving the love, wisdom and guidance they may have to offer while honouring the gifts that have travelled through our lineages.
Our relationships with our ancestors are not always simple. Alongside the gifts, love and wisdom we have inherited, we may also carry difficult relationships, unresolved wounds and patterns within our ancestral lines. Through healing sound and ceremony, we will create space to tend some of what we are carrying in our bloodlines, opening to healing and to what may be ready to be released.
Honouring the ancestors is an act of Living Reciprocity. As we honour what has been passed down to us, we can receive the gifts and wisdom of our lineages while tending what may be asking for healing, creating greater balance for ourselves and the generations to come.
During our time together, you will be invited to:
• Co-create our collective ancestor altar
• Remember and honour loved ones and ancestors who have come before
• Journey through sound to open to connection with a healthy, supportive ancestor
• Experience the healing and transformative power of voice, sound and vibration
• Tend difficult ancestral relationships and inherited wounds through sound and ceremony
• Deepen your sense of belonging within your human and more-than-human lineages
You are invited to bring a photograph or memento connected with a beloved, healthy or supportive ancestor, sacred relatives from Nature such as stones or crystals, or, if you feel called, a small food or beverage offering that has meaning for you or your ancestors. Follow your intuition about what feels meaningful to bring. We will co-create our ancestor altar together.
