Release & Restoration: Healing through Kintsugi
Look up when you walk into The Café at Thistle Farms and you'll see a ceiling of teacups, each one holding a story of healing and renewal. Teacups seem fragile, much like the way society often labels women who have survived trauma. They are really symbols of enduring strength.
One of those cups belonged to a 95 year-old survivor of a WWII Japanese internment camp, and was donated in honor of a grandmother who fled abuse. It inspired this class.
Join Jade Ryan for an evening exploring Kintsugi, the Japanese art of mending broken pottery with gold. You'll repair a piece of your own, share a table with neighbors, and leave with something restored. Repaired pieces are food-safe, so you can use what you make.
Bring something, or don't. Bring a chipped or cracked plate, vase, cup, or bowl. Time is limited, so most people finish one or two pieces, but extras to share are welcome so others can join in. We'll have pieces on hand too, so come empty-handed if you like.

Where: Community Room, The Café at Thistle Farms, 5122 Charlotte Ave, Nashville, TN 37209
