Reframing Racial Justice in the Context of ACEs
Limited places - register soon!
Introduction
This grassroots, culturally informed, in-person event will create a safe and meaningful space for connection, reflection and transformation. Together, we will centre and explore racism as a cumulative adverse childhood experience (ACE), and consider racial justice as a vehicle for hope.
The event will bring racism and its impact on personhood more fully into the public ACEs framework. It will recognise racism as an intersecting influence on the individual and collective identities of racially marginalised people, as well as on the wellbeing of our communities as a whole.
Building on the work of the London ACEs Hub Racial Justice Workgroup and our established Racial Justice series, we will explore disparities across health, education, housing, social care and criminal justice, with a strong focus on solution-finding, awareness and collective action.
The programme will include speaker presentations, panels, Q&A, and small- and large-group activities. Speakers will share lived experience, research and examples of successful initiatives to inspire learning, dialogue and practical next steps.
Participants will also have the opportunity to review and reframe the LAH Racial Justice Call to Action, identifying ways to raise awareness and help prevent the ACE of racism in London.
The event will conclude with a drinks reception, providing an opportunity to continue conversations, build connections, and foster collaboration.
Intended Outcomes
