About this Event

Join Chess for All's Queer Chess Club!

A space for the LGBTQIA+ community to enjoy this wonderful game.

Come along to play, learn new skills, and connect with others in an inclusive and friendly space.

Facilitators from Chess for All will be there to welcome you and support your game.

Whether you're a total beginner or want to improve, all levels are welcome. Queer Chess Club breaks away from traditional barriers and makes chess fun and empowering.

Where strategy is fierce, identity is power, and every move is made with pride!

About the facilitator

Chess For All is a collective of people who enjoy organising Chess Clubs and playing this ancient and gorgeous game in community centres, art galleries, libraries, bookshops, cafes and members’ clubs in London.

Queer Chess Club statement

  • We create chess clubs for all: queer, migrant, women, trans, nonbinary, gender nonconforming, Black and Brown, disabled players and anyone else unrepresented in chess
  • All levels of chess are welcome, with a special emphasis on beginners and those who would like to learn the rules and play their first games
  • We avoid elitism or gatekeeping – nobody knows everything about chess and we’re all here to learn!
  • We take responsibility – we all shape the club's culture
  • We are mindful of how we give feedback – kindness first, always
  • We respect pronouns and identities – always ask, never assume
