About this Event
What's your connection to queer history? What role might you play in our shared queer future? Most of us weren't raised with the stories that answer those questions. Here is a chance to change that: the queerest, coziest community event in San Francisco!
This is the bedtime stories reboot you've dreamed of: all the stories are queer! Queer Bedtime Stories is an opportunity to re-seed the fertile ground of your imagination with poetry, memoirs, and history from our people: LGBTQ+ ancestors and creators alive today. Together, let's uncover the richness of the queer yesteryear and, if we're lucky, catch a glimpse of the blossoming tomorrow.
You can come just to listen or bring a reading to share! Readings should be 1-8 minutes long, be any genre, and either be written by an LGBTQ+ author or be about queerness in some way. Original work is more than welcome!
Doors open at 7:30pm, and the event starts at 8pm.
This event takes place at the fabulous Queer Arts Featured! If you've never been to the Castro's coolest art gallery, you're in for a treat. Queer A.F. is full to the brim with works by local queer artists of pretty much every medium. Plus, the space emanates with the blessing of queer history, given the storefront's former life as Harvey Milk's own camera shop (and Milk lived upstairs!). With so few sacred spaces dedicated to the queer community, Queer A.F. is certainly one to visit.
All queer adults are invited to attend. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
Queer Bedtime Stories was created in 2020 by Scott Sessions, a spiritual life coach and facilitator of transformative events. Scott hosts at least two community QBS events each month, and offers an elevated version for LGBTQ+ associations (non-profit/corporate employee resource groups, professional associations, college pride clubs, etc). To learn more about booking a QBS event for your queer professional or community group, email Scott at [email protected] or follow @queerbedtime on Instagram.
