Loose Pages Bound: Asian Americans in the Delaware Valley by Christine Choy and Third World Newsreel with JT Takagi
(USA, 1978, 56 minutes)
Co-sponsored by the Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival
Shot on 16mm, Loose Pages was the first film about the area’s growing Asian American community. Long-established residents, newer immigrants, and recent refugees talk in their homes, in the street, and at community gatherings about their experiences, hopes, and efforts to maintain their Japanese, Chinese, Filipino, Korean, and Vietnamese cultures. At this first screening of Loose Pages Bound in decades, JT Takagi, the film’s sound recordist and editor and the Executive Director of Third World Newsreel, will discuss the film and the work of Christine Choy.
