About this Event
The WCIT Pro Bono panel is pleased to invite WCIT members and friends to attend its third Pro Bono Exchange meeting on Wednesday 14 October at 6.30pm, in the Livery Room or remotely via Teams. You will be given the joining link if you wish to join us online closer to the event date.
The session will feature Emma Mortoo, the former CEO of the charity Day One. Day One's mission is to improve the career progression of school leavers from low-income households, helping those who face barriers to employment to take their first steps into rewarding and well-paid careers. Day One has helped pupils at WCIT’s partner schools Hammersmith Academy and Lilian Baylis Technology School.
Emma will be joined by WCIT volunteer Stuart Mitchell. Together they will share how volunteering through WCIT and the Charity IT Association (CITA) helped Day One to separate its IT systems from a former parent organisation Journi. (Journi supports the career progression of Black, female, and low-income professionals across their whole career journey, from school leavers through to board level).
As time went on, it became clear that Day One needed to operate as a separate entity, with its own governance, funding, and identity. Initially, Day One's data, email, and systems all lived inside a single shared Google Workspace with Journi, and the entire environment had to be carefully split into two independent Workspaces without disrupting either organisation's day-to-day operations or losing any data in the process.

· See how more can be achieved through the combination of the WCIT Pro Bono and Education Panels and external partners like CITA.
Meet fellow WCIT members interested in helping charities and decide if you might like to join in.
