About this Event
WA's privacy framework has changed. What does that mean for your AI projects and everyday handling of personal information?
The Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing Act 2024 (WA) introduces new privacy obligations for WA public sector entities and contracted service providers. This practical half-day orientation explains the framework in plain English and explores how it can affect AI use, information handling, and everyday workplace decisions.
You will work through practical information flows, AI-related scenarios, and readiness activities to identify where your role may need clearer processes or safeguards.
Who this is for
This session is designed for:
- WA state government officers
- Local government officers
- Contracted service providers handling personal information
- Professionals involved in privacy, data, governance, or AI integration
No previous PRIS Act or AI experience is required.
What we will do together
- Understand the framework: Explore the PRIS Act, the WA Office of the Information Commissioner, key commencement dates, and who the obligations apply to.
- Connect privacy principles to AI: Follow the information lifecycle from collection to deletion and identify where AI use may create privacy considerations.
- Work through information flows: Review realistic scenarios and distinguish between safer and higher-risk ways of handling information with AI.
- Apply the learning to your role: Consider where your current processes may need stronger controls, review points, or documentation.
- Build a readiness action list: Turn the session into practical, dated actions for your role or team.
What you will take home
- A plain-English PRIS Orientation Map
- An Information Lifecycle Canvas
- A completed Safe and Unsafe Information Flow Record
- A practical PRIS Readiness Action List
Good to know
Please bring your laptop for the practical activities. You may bring a general workflow or information-handling scenario from your role, but do not use personal, confidential, or sensitive information. No prior PRIS Act knowledge is required. This is a practical professional development orientation and does not provide legal advice or a formal assessment of your organisation's compliance.

Refund, Cancellation and Transfer Policy#PRISAct #AIPrivacy #DataPrivacy #AIGovernance #ResponsibleAI #PrivacyByDesign #PublicSectorAI #LocalGovernment #InformationGovernance #WesternAustralia
1) Your legal rights: Our services come with guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded. Nothing in this policy limits them. This policy applies to tickets for this event only.
2) If we cancel or materially change the event: If we cancel this event, or change its date, content, format or delivery mode so materially that it no longer meets your reasonable needs, you can choose either:
(a) a full refund of the total you paid, including Eventbrite fees, to your original payment method; or
(b) a transfer to a later event of your choice.
We do not deduct any fee from these refunds. Minor changes, such as a substitute presenter, a running-order change, or a different room at the same venue, do not entitle you to a refund under this clause. If you think a change is material, email and we will decide within 5 business days. We will give reasons if we decline, and your legal rights are unaffected.
3) If you cannot attend: Tickets are non-refundable for change of mind. If you tell us at least 14 days before the event, you may move your ticket once to another session, subject to availability. It has no cash value.
4) Transferring your ticket to another person: You may transfer your ticket to another person up to 7 days before the event, by emailing with the new attendee’s name and email, or via Eventbrite’s transfer tool where enabled. Tickets must not be resold for more than you paid. We set this cut-off because we confirm final attendee numbers with the venue and caterer, and prepare name badges and course materials, 7 days before each event.
5) No-show or leaving early: No refund or credit is available if you do not attend or leave part-way through, except as required by law.
6) Refund requests: Email with your name, order number and the clause you rely on. We acknowledge requests within 5 business days and decide them within 10 business days. Approved refunds go to the original payment method and normally appear within 5 to 10 business days.
7) Conduct: We may refuse entry or remove an attendee who endangers others or seriously disrupts the event. No refund is due for that. This does not limit your legal rights.
8) Tickets sold through Eventbrite: Eventbrite processes tickets. Its refund tools and terms apply in addition to this policy, and we will honour the rights set out here. For advisory, training or consulting under a separate written agreement, that agreement’s terms apply together with clauses 1 and 2.
(Free events: use the same text, but remove “including Eventbrite fees” from clause 2, and remove the session-transfer sentence from clause 3 if tickets cannot be moved)
