This month, Practice Matters explores the spiritual practice of affirmation. Popularized by the New Age movement, affirmations are short, positive statements we repeat to ourselves to challenge negative self-talk, strengthen self-worth, and remind us of what is meaningful and true. Together, we’ll explore where affirmations come from, how they connect with broader spiritual traditions, and how the stories we tell ourselves can shape the way we experience our lives. We’ll also have a chance to consider: What do we need to remind ourselves of when life gets difficult? There is no particular belief system you need to bring with you. You don’t need to consider yourself “spiritual”, have a regular spiritual practice, or know anything about the practice we’re exploring. You just need curiosity and a willingness to wonder, “What might this have to offer me?”
Come ready to discover that spirituality doesn’t have to be something we have all figured out. Sometimes, we discover what we believe by practicing our way into it. We hope you’ll join us.
