4-Week Hand Building with Rob Johnson.Tuesdays 6:00-8:30 PM 10/6, 10/13, 10/20, 10/27
Not all pottery is created on the potters wheel and in fact sophisticated works can be made with just our hands and a few simple, inexpensive tools.
In this class three basic hand building techniques will be presented; coil, pinch and soft slab. Students will learn how to properly hand roll coils and attach them together to gain height and volume. Several different methods for creating slabs, how to apply designs and texture to soft clay will be presented and we will borrow techniques from other media to develop form. And finally, we will pinch generous forms from a ball of clay.
All firings, glazes and 25 pounds of clay are included. This is a beginning class and no prerequisites are required
