Poetry as a Second Language Workshop Series
Poetry as a Second Language is a workshop series that uses poetry as a tool to help participants build a stronger command and understanding of the English language. Through writing poetry in both English and the participants’ native language; the workshop explores vocabulary, rhythm, sound, and expression in a creative and enjoyable way.
Dates: Thursdays October 1st, 8th and 15th
Hour: 5:00PM to 7:00PM
Artist Bio (Matu)
With over two decades of practice, Matu is a Toronto-based poet and songwriter whose work moves between spoken word, poetry, and song. Alongside personal work, Matu develops artistic workshops and has supported creative direction and songwriting for fellow artists. Matu is also an ESL Teacher who holds a Level 5 TEFL Diploma. One of Matu's goals as a creative is using artistry to create lasting and positive outcomes for people.
