About this Event
PLASTIC DREAMS
Ange Beever | Patrick Lightheart | Liam Mackenzie | Walter Segers
Curated by James Fowler
Foy House is thrilled to present Plastic Dreams, our first full house exhibition, bringing together four artists whose work embraces artifice, transformation, humour, desire and the wonderfully unstable possibilities of the image.
Working across painting, collage and photography, Ange Beever, Patrick Lightheart, Liam Mackenzie and Walter Segers take familiar visual languages and turn them sideways.
Pastoral paintings are invaded by pop culture. Faces are fragmented and reconstructed. Bodies become sites of performance, sexuality, humour and reinvention. Plastic Ken dolls escape into elaborate photographic vacations around the world.
Together, the artists play with the images we inherit and the fantasies we build around them. Plastic Dreams considers beauty, identity, desire and representation through work that is playful, strange, camp, irreverent and occasionally ridiculous in the best ways possible.
