About this Event
Join us with a A Tribute to Leonard Bernstein as we close this year's
This year, we bring together two generations of world-renowned Polish pianists—Marek Drewnowski and his son, Michał Drewnowski—for an extraordinary evening of music, history, and storytelling.
Inspired by the historic collaboration between legendary American conductor Leonard Bernstein and Marek Drewnowski, this concert celebrates a unique chapter in Polish-American musical history. Bernstein personally invited Drewnowski to perform with the Boston Symphony Orchestra after hearing his recording of Scarlatti sonatas, leading to a lifelong artistic friendship.
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS:
• Marek Drewnowski performing timeless works by Frédéric Chopin.
• Michał Drewnowski (Professor at the Chicago College of Performing Arts) playing masterpieces by Polish composers tied to the U.S., including Paderewski, Tansman, and Hofmann.
• An inside look into Marek’s personal memories and musical journey with Leonard Bernstein.
• A special four-hands piano finale featuring iconic works by Leonard Bernstein.
