Phelim Drew: Remembering Ronnie

As the (very recognisable) son of legendary Dubliner Ronnie Drew, actor and musician Phelim Drew realises that he has some very big shoes to fill.
Growing up he says he was in awe of “the electricity generated by a Dubliners show”. Ten years after Ronnie’s passing, Phelim has returned to his musical legacy and the wealth of material has reawakened not only a sense of pride but also a new sense of appreciation. With the upcoming show at TradFest Phelim will be singing some of the songs made famous by Ronnie, Luke, Barney, Ciaran and John.
The night is made up of a mixture of folk and other forms of musical that helped to make Ronnie and the lads so unique. The hope is to take the audience on a journey that they will enjoy as much as I will in sharing these experiences in songs and stories.” -Phelim Drew
